Samina Fazil is the founder of the Islamabad Women’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IWCCI). She is a prominent businesswoman and social activist who has played a key role in promoting the rights of women and improving their economic opportunities in Pakistan.
Fazil was born in Lahore, Pakistan, and received her early education there. She later moved to Islamabad where she started her career as a journalist, working for several leading newspapers and magazines. She later transitioned to the corporate sector and worked for several prominent companies in Pakistan.
In 2002, Fazil founded the IWCCI, which is now one of the most prominent women’s business organizations in Pakistan. The IWCCI provides a platform for women entrepreneurs to network, exchange ideas and resources, and access training and support services to help them start and grow their businesses.
Fazil has been a vocal advocate for women’s economic empowerment in Pakistan and has worked to create awareness about the challenges and opportunities facing women entrepreneurs in the country. She has also been involved in various social and philanthropic initiatives, including providing education and healthcare services to underserved communities in Pakistan.
For her work in promoting women’s entrepreneurship and social development, Fazil has received numerous accolades and awards, including the Sitara-e-Imtiaz, one of Pakistan’s highest civilian awards.
