Mian Muhammad Latif was a renowned Pakistani entrepreneur and philanthropist. He was born on November 1, 1932, in Lahore, Pakistan. He belonged to a family of traders and entrepreneurs, and started his career as a trader in the timber industry in Lahore.
In 1960, Mian Muhammad Latif established the Chennab Group, a chain of fashion stores that offers a wide range of products including clothing, footwear, home décor, and accessories. The chain quickly gained popularity and expanded its operations to different parts of Pakistan, as well as to other countries such as the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Oman, and the United Kingdom.
Under Mian Muhammad Latif’s leadership, the Chennab Group became one of the largest retail chains in Pakistan, with more than 100 stores across the country. The group also diversified its business interests into other sectors, including real estate, hospitality, and energy.
In addition to his successful business ventures, Mian Muhammad Latif was known for his philanthropic work. He established the Mian Muhammad Latif Education Trust in 1997, which provides financial assistance to students from underprivileged backgrounds to pursue higher education in Pakistan. He also established the Mian Muhammad Latif Hospital in Lahore, which offers free medical services to the local community.
Mian Muhammad Latif was awarded several national and international awards for his contributions to the business and social sectors. He passed away on February 4, 2021, at the age of 88, leaving behind a legacy of entrepreneurship and philanthropy in Pakistan.
